Tanzania... The Country
"Africa is our centre of gravity, our cultural and spiritual mother and father, our beating hear, no matter where we live on the face of this earth" - John Henrik Clarke. A sentiment shared by most who visit Tanzania, the roof of Africa.
Wildlife, beaches, ruins, Mt Kilimanjaro, friendly people with a fascinating culture of over 120 ethnic groups – Tanzania has all these and more wrapped up in one adventurous, welcoming package. Known as the home to the continent’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro and the world’s second-deepest lake, Lake Tanganyika and the famous spices of the Zanzibar Archipelago and its islands. It is a land of many wonders with an un-paralleled diversity of fauna and flora with about a third of Tanzania covered by forests and woodlands. Beautiful vistas are not hard to find in Tanzania as the country is blessed with striking natural scenery that varies from vast tracts of wilderness, UNSECO sites to gorgeous seascapes. The mainland is littered with amazing National Parks and reserves, with teaming wildlife, predators and the pounding hooves of the wildebeest in the Serengeti. The islands of Zanzibar archipelago offer a tropical paradise with pristine beaches and turquoise waters with protected marine reserves to ancient sites of historical significance.
